about

This song is about writing songs that clearly express feelings and stuff, but when out in real life being scared and not being able to express feelings with people one on one. There are a few songs I wrote that when I finished them I felt I was pretty clever, this is one of those songs. In the studio we decided to drop the levels during the bridge. If I could take it back, I don't really like the way that ended up sounding, but oh well I think pretty solid song just the same. - Ken

lyrics

Every time I try to tell you
Just how much I care
My mouth goes dry I avert my eyes
And my speech suddenly becomes impaired

Its like I've got a mouth full of marbles
I don't make any sense
Every time I'm around you
I lose all my eloquence

I get so tongue tied
Can't you see how hard I try
To express the way I feel
But the words never seem to fit
When I try to say I love you
You'll have to take my word for it

You know I find it very hard
To make my feelings clear
I think up real great things to say
They're out the window whenever you are near

The things I think up in my head
Well they sound really great
But what come out of my mouth ain't the same
I find it hard to articulate

I get so tongue tied
Can't you see how hard I try
To express the way I feel
But the words never seem to fit
When I try to say I love you
You'll have to take my word for it

I'm so clever here up on stage
Down there I'm so afraid
Can't think of what to say
Doesn't matter anyway
Cause I can't think of what to say

about

The Chick Magnets Vancouver, British Columbia

The Chick Magnets played from 1997 until 2002 (dates approx). Ken Insipid played Bass, Lucas Spinoff on Guitar, and the famous Mr. Plow on drums. The music was pop punk, like Buddy Holly meets the Ramones. Fun stuff: the melodies will get stuck in your head and the beat will get your toe a tappin.
